Matt Koch’s baseball journey began at Cherokee Washington High School, where he was a standout four-sport athlete and helped lead his baseball team to the state tournament five years in a row. After high school, he continued his athletic career at the University of Louisville, where he excelled for three seasons. In 2012, he was selected in the third round of the MLB Draft by the New York Mets. Over the next 13 years, Matt played professional baseball as a pitcher, including parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Seattle Mariners, and Colorado Rockies. His impressive career also took him overseas to play for the Tokyo Swallows and Cleveland Guardians.
